More blue light exposure- independent of age.

Our lives are becoming more and more digital. We work, play, learn, and shop online, wherever we are. With this lifestyle change, we rely on our eyes more than ever before. This means that, besides the potentially harmful blue light exposure from the sun, we’re also more vulnerable to artificial blue light.

Surrounded by screens all day?

As early as April 2020, research has shown that people of all ages, from all over the world are spending more time on digital devices.1 In addition, more time is spent indoors at home, where buildings are nowadays equipped with LED lights that also emit blue light. So, besides facing potentially harmful blue light emitted by the sun, most people are increasingly exposed to artificial blue light.

See comfortably and look good without disturbing blue-purple reflections on your blue light glasses. ZEISS BlueGuard Lenses block potentially harmful blue light1 and provide full UV protection.

The next generation of blue light blocking glasses

With previous products, blue light blocking is achieved via coatings applied to blue light filter glasses. ZEISS BlueGuard Lenses incorporate blue light blocking properties into the lens material itself. This allows us to apply ZEISS DuraVision Platinum – our most premium lens coating – as a standard to ZEISS BlueGuard Lenses.

It also offers maximum protection against potentially harmful UV light.

Glare: The negative impact on your vision.

Glare reflected off of transparent or wet surfaces is not only annoying and distracting – it can also affect vision.

  • Natural light travels in all directions, so it’s described as “unpolarized”. On a regular (unpolarized) surface, light rays have a tendency to reflect in various directions, resulting in perceived glare. Polarized sunglasseshowever, ensure reflected light rays are directed in a single direction, usually horizontally.
  • As a result, distracting and potentially dangerous reflections are eliminated by polarized lenses. It improves the overall perceived quality of vision. This helps, for example, when your patient is driving, spending time at the ocean or is out in the snow.

Polarized sunglasses: Comfortable vision without distracting glare.

ZEISS Polarized Lenses consist of various special layers with horizontally aligned molecules to form a dense grid. This greatly reduces glare and allows the wearer to experience the full brilliance and vibrancy of the colors.

It also offers maximum protection against potentially harmful UV light.

Development of myopia in children.

Myopia is becoming a serious problem in more and more countries. Especially in urban areas in Asia, almost 90% of young people develop myopia before the age of 204. – a trend that continues worldwide. Studies predict that, by the year 2050, nearly 50 percent of the world’s population could be shortsighted5. In a worst-case scenario, early myopia can lead to the emergence of progressive myopia, a severe form of short-sightedness: after the onset, a person’s vision may quickly deteriorate at a rate of one diopter per year and turn into high myopia, which increases the risk of other eye problems, such as damage to the retina or even blindness6.

The next generation of myopia management single vision lenses.

Extra-thin, super-lightweight, innovative lenses.

People who need strong prescription glasses know this problem: The weaker the eyes, the thicker and heavier the required lenses. This creates cosmetic and other problems for near- and far-sighted patients. The solution: High Index plastic lenses from ZEISS. They are so sleek that only one thing leaves a mark: their superior quality.
Special plastic materials and optimized lens designs make the innovatively manufactured High Index ZEISS Lenses comfortable and also fashionably sleek: Compared to conventional lenses, High Index are up to 40 percent thinner – a critical aesthetic benefit. After all, thick distort the way others see our eyes.

Thick lenses that are externally concave can greatly enlarge the appearance of the eyes of far-sighted patients who wear plus lenses. The effect is called the bulging eye syndrome, and it makes the eyes look as if they are bulging out.

In contrast, minus lenses minimize the appearance of the eyes of near-sighted patients and make their facial contours appear narrower behind the glasses. Both effects are undesirable for the patient and give them unattractive profiles.

HighIndex addresses both problems: The plastic material used to manufacture these lenses and a perfectly optimized lens design guarantee an absolutely natural look and unbeatable comfort no matter how strong the lenses are. The best choice for patients with more extreme vision problems, exceptionally thin lenses from ZEISS, arealso available in aspheric flat design.

The benefits of aspherically-cut lenses: They are thinner than conventionally manufactured lenses and less concave, but deliver the same correction levels and excellent vision results.
